Hello. I want to clean some negatives. They have dust and the usual suspects 🙂 I thought of doing it with some stabilizing chemistry - is that a good idea ?
I just use a brush and a blower. But if it takes more than that, I recall that Kodak made a cleaning fluid for the purpose. If they don't make it anymore, maybe someone else does.
Brush off any loose dust/debris and wipe gently with Edwal Film Cleaner and Kimwipes if there are any smudges or grease on them.
If they're really dirty, soak them for a bit in distilled water, then a second soak in distilled water with a few drops of Photo-Flo. Hang to dry in a dust-free room and you should be good to go.
