How do you adjust the close focus say at 1 meter? Is there a relationship between horizontal, vertical, close focus, infinity focus. Mine has a variance in vertical and horizontal. Infinity is fine but close is off by a few mm. enough to give me unfocused close up portraits especially in the eyes especially when using the 50 f1.4. One will be focused and the other will be off enough to be irritating. Any help or thoughts are appreciated. TIA.

You need to set vertical and horizontal correct at infinity first then try 1m and 10 m. The first two may fix 1m. I think you can do both without taking the top plate off.

See the repair manual. The one for the Canon 7 can be found online for free. The roller at the end of the arm is on an eccentric. That is how you adjust the "gain" of the rangefinder.

But, do not assume that is the problem. You must also check the flange-film distance -- very accurately. You also need a known calibrated and collimated lens. Really best left to professionals, I wouldn't try it, and I've replaced the shutter curtains in several LTM cameras.

Thanks Guys

Thanks Guys

For your posts. I've worked with the infinity and close focusing adjustments and have them pretty much on. Will try film to see if it helps. Thanks so much.
