Isn't this a $1600 camera without the lens? Or do I have it mixed up with another Sony model? Is it the same as the a7 everyone is talking about?

Different camera. Not the A7.

I like the A6000 which seems to be a descendent of the NEX-7. $498 for this camera with a lens looks like a great deal, $548 briefly last holiday season was a great deal for the A6000.

OK. Whew! I see the NEX 7 has an APS-C sensor, while the a7 has full frame. It's hard to keep up these days . . .

I think I want an a7.

Sadly we don't have this deal locally; the American consumer is once again the king. My NEX-5N has recently become pretty much unusable with an unresponsive/broken menu button, and I would like to get a replacement. While I'm ideally looking for something more recent, the price sure looks great. As long as I dream about the Monochrom I should not buy anything even at that price, though.
