If I were going to do a roll on a cloudy day, I would do like you BOX SPEED and then normal development. Wonderful shots.

Thanks, John. A question, if you don't mind: your method says that for 500ml of dil H, you add 2.5ml of Rodinal. If I place two 35mm rolls in the tank, it takes ~650ml to cover them. I've been adding 3ml of Rodinal to the 650ml of dil H. As I did here. I'm not unhappy with my results.
What would your recommendation be? Thanks in advance.

I think it should be great, maybe better. It is pretty hard to measure small amounts.

Yes, it is. And the older the Rodinal gets, the darker it gets and it's hard to see the markings on the syringe.

John,
sorry for being late to the party, but can you elaborate on
"If I were going to do a roll on a cloudy day, I would do like you BOX SPEED and then normal development. ..."
thanks much!

I shoot TmaX 100 at (EI) 50, have adjusted development and agitation for that speed AND sunny (f16) days. So, on cloudy days I shot at box speed to increase contrast and develop the same as most of the shots are for sunny days in California.
If I were using sheet film then you could adjust development time, rolls: this is the only way I get around mixed scenes. The other way was with two bodies, one for sunny and one for cloudy or low contrast indoor scenes. That ended up a logistical problem for me. So I gave up on the two body idea.

John,
thanks. i understand now. at half the box speed, the images would invariably be lower contrast so you'd switch to box speed exposure and development during days where it is cloudy with muted contrast.
I think this explains one of the issues with my pictures where I shot sunny 16 at box speed at noon, the images turned out "muddy" with extreme contrast. I tried to lower the contrast by shooting at f11 instead of f16.
thanks
