Coated 35mm Elmar

Hello: I have a 35mm f3.5 Elmar, in a nickle mount, which definitely is a coated lens. I suppose it was coated well after manufacture. Did Leitz do this and over what period of time? Or were coated examples produced?

Manufacturing of the nickel version stopped in 1936. Leitz did coat Elmars beginning in 1946 for civilian use. First coated lens was serial nr. 598201. The lens was manufactured until 1961.

After WWII the Dutch optical industry company "Oude Delft" (Later incorporated in Enraf-Nonius and nowadays Delft Instruments) would coat any optical system, also for the individual customer. They called it "Delfineren"and claimed to be the inventor of the process. I suppose there may have been similar companies in other countries using the patent, I read that there is- even today- somebody in the Ukraina who will coat lenses.
So your lens may have been coated anywhere, not especially by Leitz.
