As many of us know, getting filters to work with the CV 15/4.5 is no out-of-the-box task and often requires some sort of work around, whether it be a custom adapter, modifying the 12/5.6 adapter, hand holding the filter, or whatever. I was wondering if anyone's tried using the Cokin P Universal Adapter?

I'm ordering the Cokin P filter holder and rings anyways for an unrelated application, but I figured if the universal adapter can be used on the 15/4.5, then I'll have the option of using filters with it.

Anyone give this a try or think it can or can't be done effectively?

I have a Bessa L with 15/4.5. I use the Cokin Shoe Digital Filter Holder A300 with A Series filters.

The picture on the B&H web site is not a very good one because it shows the unit folded inside its packaging. The unit actually unfolds to L shape with a moveable position 1/4" screw to mount it on the bottom of the camera, with the filter holder in front of the lens.

The advantage of using A Series filters is that, being smaller, they are less likely than P Series filters to get in the way of the viewfinder.

One problem I found is reflection off the back side of the filter showing in the image. A solution is to wear a broad brimmed hat, but not so broad that it gets in the picture. 🙂 I would imagine the reflection problem could be worse with a P Series filter.

Cheers, Peter.
