went looking for some uv filters and cokin was the only screw in filter i could find locally in 39mm, it was in the digital section of my local camera store. if i wanted another brand i would have had to special order it. what kind of reputation do the cokin's have?

They're fine.

For the most part, with screw in filters, a filter is a filter. I have never seen a difference resulting from using an inexpensive UV filter or an expensive UV filter.

i agree with that also. the main differences are more with the ring, either brass, plastic, aluminium etc. and the coating.

i can't find more than a passing reference to cokin's screw in filters on the net, very frustrating.
