in checking today I found out something new.

on my five sample cameras,

the Voigtlander 50/2 Heliar can be safely collapsed safely into the Leica M8, M5, or CL, as well as the Minolta CLE and Konica RF!

the Voigtlander 50/3.5 Heliar can be safely collapsed into the Leica CL or M8, but not the M5

note that there are most likely unknown production variations in both the lenses and cameras. so proceed with caution before you inadvertently jam or damage your camera.

Stephen,
Can the 50/3.5 be bought by itself for LTM?

Raid

the 50/3.5 was produced in LTM and Nikon Rangefinder mount for special limited edition sets. the LTM version in the 101 Heliar sets are long sold out, and practically never turn up on the used market without the rest of the kit. The Nikon rangefinder version is still available, both as a kit and separated lens.

Stephen,
So it may be necessary to get a Nikon set for LTM users. I was once offered the 101 set for $1000.

Stephen, do tell us if there's a new 25mm Voigtlander lens imminent?

Otherwise it's the Zeiss for me, even though I'd prefer something a little less bulky...
