OK, in this thread John Neal describes how he has his Cron opened in front of him.

I have the front off my collapsible 'cron right now. There are 2 very small spanner notches in the metal ring that sits between the name ring and the outer chrome shell on my version. Once that is loose, you can remove the name ring and a wide washer beneath it, next the front element and, finally, a very slim aluminium spacer under the front element.

Ok, I got down to the front element then chickened out. I could not remove the glass from the barrel.

Can anyone give me a more detailed explanation of how to do that little part of the job?

Once I get the glass out I am about 45 seconds from finishing this job, pretty cool.

You might not like the answer. You need to "bang" it out. It is a friction fit so use a mouse mat or something similar and tap the lens on it in increasing strength until it drops out.

Oh, the rings came off nice and easy so if that is the answer than that should be easy too. I was pretty scared when I got the rings off and I was sitting there not knowing at all what to do.

This will have to wait til morning when I am fresh.
