Collapsible Cron Repair

I uncrewed to two screws holding in the aperture ring on the cron. I guess the spring on the blade pushed the retaining ring up, and now I can't get the screws back in.

I was able to remove the first and second element, but there is another one in the way I cannot figure out how to remove. It doesn't have spanner marks and does not fall out. I have tried to unscrew the filter ring, to no avail. How do I get to the aperture retaining ring so I can push it down and screw the screws back in?

An analysts viewpoint... if you can't get at it from one side...

... unless attacking the lens from the rear element isn't a good idea.
I stand to be corrected on this one, having never had the guts to strip a lens at all.

Have you tried using a rubber ring for traction/friction to unscrew the front retaining ring?

I tried a rubber ring, and rubber lid openner. From what I read, the whole front assembly is supposed to unscrew, but it isn't unscrewing. Could it be cemented in place? If so, how can I safely break/lossen the cement without damaging the other elements?

I tried from the rear, but I cannot get the retaining ring to unscrew fully.

DAG. Cost me about $100 to fix from a similar level of dissassembly.

$100 is more than I want to pay, but at this point it is the principle.

I was able to manipulate the aperture diaphram through the screw holes with a pin. So it is fixed. Yey! Thanks for the support.

Glad hear thih..what about a DIY for CLA the coll cron??? 😉
I have one coll, Id like to clean a Bit...
