In another thread someone tested the 50mm Elmar new version with the R2 and said it worked. I know that some coll lenses work and some don't. It would be nice to make a list of what works and what doesn't. I will make i list if we get enough answers.

I know that some coll lenses can be modified to not collapse fully. Perhaps we could also discuss ways to do this as well. Any of your experiences would be helpful and welcome.

Hi Mazurka

he was obviously referring to using the lens on a Bessa.

That said, I'm using the collapsible Industar-22 on a Bessa R, which is similar to the Elmar if not identical. It hits a protrusion in the chamber when collapsing. I made a spacer out of some rubber rings, and now it collapses nicely without any problems. Since the lens didn't lock in the collapsed position anyway, I only lose a couple of millimeters in thickness.

I dunno who said this, but it appears right on the same page: 😛 "The 50/3.5 Elmar screw mount (1954) will collapse, but stops about 1/4" out as it hits a ledge inside the lens chamber."

Anyway I never see the point of collapsing these lenses. If you want to slow yourself down, a tripod is a much better way to do so.

If you must minimize the size, just put it on a pre-war LTM. The camera will also slow you down even further. 🙄
