So I've read that collapsible lenses can be used but only if they aren't collapsed.
Is collapsing a lens into the body really going to do damage?
There doesn't seem o be much in there to damage but I'm guessing maybe the shutter is closer than normal to the lens mount or something?

50/3.5 elmar will collapse but you can feel it touching something inside!
Other's put a rubber band or cable tie around the barrel so the lens can't collapse so far as to do damage.

I've collapsed a industar 22 (elmar copy) into the rd1.
It touches the protection of the shutter but no problem beside that...
Just use a caliber to check the depth before mounting.

That's what I thought. Well, I got my Industar 61 in today and it seems pretty good so might stick with it just now and keep my eyes open for a cheap collapsible.
