so, my latest GAS attack landed me, among other things, a lovely 30's era collapsible sonnar 50/2. i'll use it with the contax body but i'd also like to use it (via an amadeo adapter) with my m6, my m5 and my rd-1.

when collapsed, the back of the lens looks like it sticks out pretty far. does anyone here have any experience with this lens on an m/rd-1? i know that m5s in particular have collapsible-lens issues, but i wonder about the other bodies as well. can i do it? should i not do it? enquiring minds want to know

I have it, and it collapse safely on RD1, M2, M3, even in my IIIc (I use amadeo's contax to LTM adapter)

there is one issue : the claw of the collapsible tube is protrude out too much compare to elmar/fed/industar collapsible, this will hit the rangefinder roller during collapsing when you are not becareful. you need to push slowly and feel if the claw hit the roller. then turn it until you get it free, then push it all the way.

when it is already collapsed, there is still issue, which is the same claw is still near the roller, so any attemp to turn it while collapsed, will hit the roller, maybe only 45degree of rotation free.

compare to elmar/industar collapsible, when it is collapsed, you can turn it freely.

sometimes I collapsed the sonnar into RF body during travelling, but with special care not to try to turn it hard while collapsed.
