Everyone from several states seems to be talking about this "Sandy". Who is he, and which store does he inhabit?
It seems that Ritz is known for being higher-priced than a lot of other places. Considering that they claim to be nearly a nation-wide concern, I can't help wondering why they so consistently get accused of over-pricing. When they took over the (I forget the name) store up in Portland OR, up went all the prices.
I was not aware that they were known for dealing in used equipment. This is a new one for me. I think one has to know what he/she is getting into with ANY purchase of used equipment.

You're talking about the chain of shops called Ritz Camera (www.ritzcamera.com), not the well-regarded Collectable Cameras (www.ritzcam.com). I don't know what is the history surrounding these names, but it is confusing at times.

I just bought a Pen FT with 38/1.8 lense, caps, case and strap. Waiting for it to arrive but the glowing reviews here and on the Leica forum meant I didn't hesitate...
Just an update: Camera arrived to me in Israel (via my Dad in London) - beautifully packaged, and better than the description. Ed was a pleasure to deal with, and I will not hesitate to either recommend, or use Collectable Cameras again...
Wonderful experience.

Hi Nate.....I am not at all surprised at the way they handled you. I know they really do care about their reputation and do go for the repeat high-end business. Also, unless they indicate the camera needs service you don't have to factor in a CLA right up front!

Hi Ray,
I took your advice (thank you) and contacted Ed at CC yesterday. I explained my issue with the IIIc and noted that I was the sole commenter who wasn't pleased with the service and would they consider repairing the camera at this late date. I expected to receive either a flat-out refusal--or more likely, no response at all. I was completely wrong. Within a couple of hours Ed responded:
"I will side with the other folks on the forum (naturally!!) and say you should have let me know at the time that there was an issue with
the Leica. We can't make up for an issue if we are not aware of it.
The 7 day return policy is accompanied by a 30 day warranty. As long
as you alert us to an issue within the 30 even a little after ..
days and don't take another month to get it back to us, we will honor the warranty.
Yes ... I will take the opportunity to spread some good cheer and break with our policy. Send it back to me and I'll let our guy have another go at it."
My camera is on its way to Arizona for some TLC and I'm thrilled to be absolutely wrong. Please count me among the satisfied.

I drop in there a few times a year to drool.
Nice folks and lots of great gear there.
I think it's safe to say you can count on their descriptions to be accurate and for them to stand behind what they sell.
