Color Negative Comparisons

I hope this isn't a terribly redundant post...

I was hoping you could help me pick a color neg film for me. I have it narrowed down to the following films:

Kodak Ultra Color 100UC
Kodak Porta 160NC
Kodak Porta 160VC
Fujifilm Fujicolor Pro 160C
Fujifilm Fujicolor Pro 160S

I will be shooting on the street this summer in a relatively big city in the midwest US so lots of contrasty situations I assume. I want a slow film for finer grain when I scan. So give me our opinions and sample shots!

Slide?

At 100 ISO, why not shoot slide? In my experience (limited compared to most around here) it looks better at this speed. Plus sorting the images can be done without scanning and previewing or ordering a contact sheet - just look at the slides on the light box. And it scans well.

Well I would but I am afraid of exposure latitude because I am shooting with an old rangefinder (Vivitar 35ES) and I am not sure how accurate the meter is. Also, it costs a bit more to develop (right?) and wouldnt be as easy to get done as C-41 I would imagine. I can certainly look into it though. Thanks.

EDIT: I am also not that good on judging light yet so that goes with the being afraid of latitude...

Contrast with slides might be a bit much in the city- bright sun & deep shadows too often I would guess. I like the fuji 160 VC, but haven't yet seen the new portra 160 films. Contrast should be fine with both of these films. I've never much liked the reds on the Kodak UC, but others here have gotten much better reds with this film- don't know why.
