Color-Skopar 21/4 on M8

Hello everybody,

Does anyone here have any experience with the 21/4 from voigtländer on a M8? The Color-Skopar is the screw mount type so i will have to use an adapter. Will the lens work properly on the M8, no problems with vingetting or something? And what about the coding, does the adapter have to be coded or are there special adapters for the M8?

I use the same setup. No problems with vignetting. There is a 'special' adapter, it needs to be the type II adapter (from Cosina), where it has a wider flange on the coding area compared to the type I. You can do withouth coding it, but than you'll have to use cornerfix on every image.

This shot is on the m8 with no special adapter and no IR filter/uncoded. Works well if you ask me!

Hey Timo,

Just got the lens on wednesday myself, and I'm enjoying it. I have seen some extreme situations where the cyan shift with the UV/IR filter is pretty well pronounced.

Not a great pic, but just an example of the shift without the lens being coded:

I plan on coding the lens this weekend sometime and I'll let you know how it looks after.

for outdoor use, I prefer no coding, no filters. Great lens on the M8, can flare if shooting into the sun, sometimes a nice cinematic effect, sometimes not so great flare control, but definitely a great wide lens to keep around with the M8.

i just did some sample pictures with every combination (uv/ir filter with and without coding, no uv/ir filter with and without coding etc..)
My ColorSkopar is coded as 21mm Elmarit 2.8 ASPH.

1.) NO uv/ir filter, lens detection ON, uv/ir detection OFF

2.) NO uv/ir filter, lens detection OFF, uv/ir detection OFF

3.) NO uv/ir filter, lens detection ON, uv/ir detection ON

4.) b+w 486 uv/ir filter, lens detection ON, uv/ir detection OFF

5.) b+w 486, lens detection OFF, uv/ir detection OFF

6.) b+w 486, lens detection ON, uv/ir detection ON

Surprisingly the version with the uv/ir filter, lens and uv/ir detection ON looks the worst 😀
I thought this would be the best?
I think i'll use it without uv/ir filter, lens detection on, uv/ir detection off or without uv/ir filter and everything off...

At least it's sharp 😀

the uv/ir image corrections are based on the Leica UV/IR filter, not the 486s. But still, having done these tests with a CV 15, coded as various wide angles, including the 3 values for the WATE, I prefer no filter, lens detection off, at least for outdoor shots.

Capture 1 Pro has a good solution to correct the cyan-drift.
You need only a white acrylic plate and 5min.
For me a better way than cornerfix - sorry sandy 😉

I use this way for the CV12 which is coded as a wate.
I have settings for 16/18/21mm - for the Worst-case scenario that i forgot the setting.

Now i think about a CV 4/21mm 😀

I just have the normal 5.2.1
