Thank you for your comments. The hooded figures are "Nazarenes" - Penitents taking part in the Semana Santa (Holy Week) celebrations in Seville last weekend. There were hundreds of these people taking part in processions all around the city, watched by thousands more. I find it fascinating that the same basic outfit can have two such different meanings either side of the Atlantic.
