Hey guys, this is my first post on rangefinder forum! I've been referring to these forums for a while now so I figured I'd say hello and ask a question!

I'm receiving the mail today a Voigtlander Color Skopar 35mm 2.5 Pan Ii and I want to get a hood for it. I know that the proper hood is the LH 4, the circular vented kind. I would prefer to use the LH 2 rectangular hood that is made for the 35mm 2.5 Color Skopar C (the screw-mount version). What I'm asking is, is this possible? I know the "C" has an included lens shade so I'm guessing the screw on the rectangular hood tightens down on that while the LH 4 hood is threaded to fit the outside of the Pan Ii's barrel. I know the threads are the same so could I purchase a lens shade for the pan and mount the LH2 hood?

I know this has no real world benefit from the other hood but I prefer the aesthetics of a rectangular hood.

I searched for a while and couldn't find my answer but if there is a thread where this was explicitly addressed please send me in the right direction!

Regards,
Andrew

Hello Andrew,
and a late welcome to RFF. According to the lens info site of "Cameraquest" (the host of this forum), "The square metal LH-2 will only mount on the screw mounts 35/2.5C and the 50/2.5 lenses".
Enjoy your lens!

The LH2 screws in to threads on the outside of the lens. You know the little mini-hood some of these lenses ship with which is about 1cm in length? You unscrew it and screw the LH2 in there.

To use it with other lenses, you'd need an adapter with threads on the outside of the filter rather than the inside. Unfortunately I don't think anything like this exists.
