I was curious how this lovely lightly coated lens would do with a modern color film... Fuji Superia 400. For any ISO B&W it is a winner... But what about color...
here are a couple I took the other day around my apartment building areas.. I did kick the Saturation a little in post for the specific colors in each photo. So, It's possible to get nice rich colors, if you want them. I could of just as easily desaturated a little to have a more old faded look too. Reminisant of an old 1952 color photo. Whatever look you need or want.

Let's see some color images taken with this oldie but goody.

Scanned at 6000dpi with a PlusTek 7300 35mm Scanner. Cropped during scanning.

Concerning saturation and such... Do you guys enjoy looking at the negatives of color print film as the final product? Or a scan of the film with whatever default settings happens to be built into the scanner and scanning software?

When making a print, digital or analog, isn't saturation and color balance likely to be some of the parameters that needs adjusting no matter what? The same with scanning.

When it comes to positive film, that's another thing of course...

I've found this too

I've found this too

Portra is expensive, but in mixed lighting, it always comes out the most neutral.

Fuji consumer and Reala, and Walgreens films are great outdoors and in some indoor light, but with mixed light often get yellow or off-color results, while the Portra almost always comes out in proper colors without pp.

I find that Nikon Scan with a straight scan of a C-41 Portra negative shot outdoors generally needs very little color balancing at all.

Yes, the colors are a little different, but that's OK. When I scan I don't do any adj at this point, except cropping. I do all the other stuff in my regular software.
It is a nice lens. Glad I got a good on.

Some good examples...thanks

Superia 400 is a good general film... I also like Fuji Realla 100 too..

I liked my summarit , i still wonder why I traded it off. I could buy it back but the place that has it now thinks its super special based on the price of $585

I have only done a few rolls of color with mine and I found it to my liking. Mine is mint , no haze or scratches and I use the proper shade.

Mine had a light haze and i never used a shade with it . I think the summarit catches a bad rap , its a great lens. The worst attribute is that its a heavy lense.
