.. anybody using that Colour Monkey Display calibrator on a mac running Yosemite?
I could do with a new colour calibration thingy and my lab recommends this one (or it is selling this one now, I have an ancient spider machine already) anybody got a view? ... or using it?
... or any view on these people mangling the language with misspellings and insertion of ranDom capitalisation ... or insertion of the odd i in a iWord in order to lend a quirky aspect to something one is flogging

What Spyder do you have? The last Spyder 3 software (available from the Datacolor site) supports Yosemite, the support for 2 ended with SnowLeopard. If it should be the latter, you can often get a hardware upgrade cheaper from the manufacturer's online store than buying entirely new at a shop - sometimes you can also get crossgrades (that is, get a discount on a Colormunki if you mail in a Spyder or other competing product).
Personally I have no particular preference regarding brands or products - all current mainstream calibrators work reasonably well, and in the odd case where they don't, either might be better or worse, depending on the monitor you use.

I think it could be the very first Spyder ... it struggled with snow-leopard when I last upgraded
I may just do a deal with the lab and buy the one they recommend, that worked OK last time

Shaken, so blurred
I use a ColorMunki device for both monitor and print profiles and it's done a good job for me. However, I use it on nasty Windows-y boxes and not Mac-things so I'm not much use to you there.
