Colors of Paris - 8x 1024px | M8.2 | M9 | 35/1.4 | 50/1 | 135/3.4

During this years visit to the Le Mans 24h, I had the usual annual short stay in Paris.
I must admit, I like this town more and more every time, especially enjoying the night and unique visual impressions of the place, while having the luxury of enjoying the wonderful culinary tastes and all the bakery goodness ;-)

I want to share a few seldom seen impressions of mine - COLORS !
I used my kit, I set up specifically for the motor sports week of Le Mans:
a M8.2 with 135 APO-Telyt, a full frame body with 35 Lux ASPH (this year having added a M9 for the very purpose) and the Noctilux f1 for the impossible light.

Really nice photos although #3 and #4 show that typical Noctilux effect (to much use of f.1. a bit more dof would be nicer). But probably I would use the lens the same way if I had one 🙂

I believe we crossed paths while you took the second shot, although we didn't talk to each other --as I was in a hurry to do an errand. You have a silver M9 (w/24 Summilux) and a black M8, don't you?

Thanks Tom, and yes, you are absolutely right about 3 and 4 ;-)
I admit, I was fooling around a bit with the brand new camera and was in times quite locked in with astonishment, how different the Noctilux looks on the M9 😱
This can lead indeed to some more "playful" imaging ;-) Usually shots like 6 or 7 are, what I love the Noctilux for - catching light.

I think, there must be quite a few Leica shooters around in Paris then -
if it was not a 2m guy with a shiny black M9 and worn M8.2, it was not me ;-)
… but I would looooove, to give a 24 Lux a spin

Thanks - yes, Germans call the 2CV "Ente" as of it's unique shape (and potentially its mode of performance, which is not much different from the movement of the bird, while on it's feet 😉 )
One cannot see many of them these days, not even in Paris anymore - most, I have seen have been from some tourist agency, doing drives through the city with customers, enjoying a ride.

What I found interesting about Paris is, how consistent it in fact looks and feels! Having seen a few movies from the 60's (love the french movies from that time), Paris hasn't changed much for the eye of a visitor!

Some lovely shots there, Dirk! I think I'd abuse the Noctilux the same way! 😉

Love those old Citroens. I remember growing up (on a yearly pilgrimage to Germany for the summer) seeing them quite a bit. In Germany they were called an "Ente" (or duck). In fact, this translation even mentions them! LOL. I even liked the odd 80's ones with the pneumatic suspensions.

When I was a child my parents had one. I think we had the "big" one with the "strong" 28PS Motor 😀 When we drove fully packed uphill, we were slower than the trucks.

Nice shots, nice colors. I'm used to see many Paris photos in B&W and you managed to get a stunning color palette out of it. I like special N°6 and 7, when I was a boy to have a 500 was a real dream ...

Thank you - this is one of the color shots from the M8.2. I don't use filters and was surprised, there are no issues, as of the many reported on the internet (it's more or less a first for me, to dabble in color).

Thanks - I actually do B&W, these few color shots were just first in the row, to do and upload. I was surprised, by how they did and quite like them. A few in B&W will follow, as I find time for going through the batches.

Go for it! The 135/4 or the vintage 135mm lenses can be had for a bargain (just make sure, to not buy them in Parisian camera shops - man, those prices are shocking!)

One of the major surprising finds, I recently made is a Canon 100mm f2 LTM - what a great lens! This you can pair with a 90mm adaptor and shoot it as a slightly tighter 90mm on the M. Crazy good lens for the money.
