How do you guys get such nice scans from Kodak Ektar 100?

This is what I'm talking about! How do you guys get such pop from your Ektar? I've tried shooting it four or five times and never managed to get colours that pop like this :bang:

Ektar works well in bright sunlight, in duller conditions it has a more natural tone, but still pops reds a little.

Thanks! For this photo in particular, some postprocessing was needed, which is one reason I find Ektar a challenge. I avoid heavy postprocessing, but sometimes you need it. Here, I darkened the shot b/c the background was too washed out. Doing that also deepened the colors slightly. My 35 color is scanned at the local Costco, which does a good job.

Here is a Kodachrome from my family collection. This was taken is 1947. So, you have many more years of enjoyment out of that slide. I was under the impression that slides faded quickly. But my collection says Kodak doesn't fade, but some of the off brands do. I do have some of the first Kodachrome from 1938 and they have faded:
