Thanks for letting us know Gerry, I had no idea Talent was at risk.
Thoughts with colton and his family, and all the folk being impacted over there.
We’re just about at the start of the fire season down this way...

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for all your kind thoughts.
After nearly a week of being evacuated, our family is back safe in our house.
Our house ended up being a block outside the swath of destruction the fire burned through our town.
Having to evacuate at this stage of living with ALS was extremely difficult for me, and the first night was very hard (physically) and was excruciating with worry for our house , but I am so very grateful for the friends and family that put us up, and I will forever be thankful that we had a house to come back to.
I am heartbroken for our town , and any of the small towns affected by this horrible fire, and heartbroken for the thousands of people left homeless. Many of our friends lost everything.
I would have replied sooner, but I can't really type on anything but main computer system at home.
We currently have power and water, but we have to boil our water if we need to drink it or cook with it. Our internet is down for the foreseeable future, but I am able to tether to my cell phone so I have some access.

It's good to know you are safe back in your home. What is happening in your area is terrible, I have no words for any other comments. I can't even imagine to loose my house, belonging, memories...
And the lives lost, so bad.

I have along with the rest of RFF been thinking about you, your wife and daughter. It is too bad what has happened in Oregon as well as California and Washington. I hope that your town will be rebuilding soon and it will be back to normalcy. Keep us posted.

The Almeda fire stopped about 3 miles short of our home. We were at evac level 1 so did not have to leave. As of this morning, the fire is now 70% contained. Homes and business structures lost are 1500 so far.

Glad to find you are in the clear, Gerry. Three miles is still pretty close. When the forest on the other side of the Interstate caught fire a few years ago I thought for sure we'd be bugging out from up here on the hill. Fortunately for us the worst part was having to clean the ashes off the car every morning, and it was mostly underbrush that was burning, but the pine trees would go up in spectacular fashion.
