Go ahead - while repair arguably is only a subset of DIY, most threads have been repair related, and few, if any, DIYS projects did not involve tinkering with an old camera (or tools for that purpose). And at one new thread a week it isn't exactly crowded either.
No objections here. I think it would boost the use of the new forum if the two were combined.
Still hoping for an active community to appear on educating fellow members on Leica repairs, and on listing sources for spare parts etc. Seems to be plenty of work in Leica repair and I'd do it myself if I thought I had it in me. Guess I'm more of a lenses kinda guy.
Maybe a new forum of mixed ancestry will trigger a new enthusiasm.
EDIT: I'd vote for a name that reflects the two-track content of the new forum though, maybe 'Camera repair and DIY Projects'? 😉
I support this too. Because the many repair and disassembling threads here in RFF are spread over different forum sections (DIY, repair, brand specific...) it might be also an idea to put them together in a main thread by camera type, at least as a link summary.
Excellent; I thought the Camera Repair site had gone forever - nice retrieval work, already found some useful info from the archives, and that only because Google threw it up referencing the new home it now has.
