The least smart of our three dogs, but perhaps the most lovable, Otto, refused to sit down for a portrait. Maybe this is more interesting to look at than a portrait would have been as he was lurking in the deep shadows and emerged just in time for me to catch him. The shadow makes the most docile fellow you'd ever want to meet (we assume he'd lick a burglar rather than bite him), look menacing and ominous. The camera lies (some more than others depending on who's handling it).
