Hi all,

I have been toying with the idea of starting a community darkroom in town I live with and was wondering if anybody here has done something like that. Do you use or run a community darkroom? How does it work where you are?

I would really appreciate if folks would share their experiences.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. These are great examples. I did find a couple of more. Again, I would love to hear more about peoples' experience with using/belonging to/running community darkrooms. What worked? What didn't?

Hey...shoot me an email sometime at jordan@jordanstarrphotography dot com and we should chat. I do social enterprise development in rural Ontario for a living and (for free) could help you brainstorm the idea and develop the business plan for this. I always liked the idea of a non-profit co-operative model for community darkrooms and artist-run galleries/arts centres -it would also help with memberships, fundraisers, donations and accessing government grants.

Since you're on the East Coast, it might be worth getting in touch with View Point Gallery in Halifax as they operate a gallery as a co-operative model and it works VERY well from my understanding.
