How powerful? How small? Which gets priority? Tell us what you'd like to do with a flash.

I have an Olympus S-20 that's almost exactly the size of a pack of cigarettes, but it's only rated at GN20 (meters/100 ISO) or GN14 with the wide diffuser. It has worked well the few times I've used it with my CL.

looking at the Nikon SB-27 and the Nikon SB-400. both suit the scale and shape of the Bessa bodies. i am shooting most with the 21mm lens on the R3A so i am looking to a flash for that coverage. the range of lighting is maybe 6-10 metres.

thnaks for your advice. i will look out the S-20 Canon unit.

I'd recommend Metz's powerful 44 MZ-2. I use it with my R3A in automatic mode and get wonderful flash images. All I have to do is set the shutter speed on the R3A to 1/125th of a second and set the flash aperture and my lens's aperture to identical numbers and I'm ready to capture images!

hello, thank you. i've used the 44 MZ2 and it is very good. i have already the Nikon SB-28 and it is essentially the same scale. the SB27 is low and flat. the SB400 is not manual so it is restricting in its application and versatility. i am not living in a large city and when i am next going i will do some shopping in the professional shops i think. thanks
