Compact wide-angle for X-E2

Hi!
I am looking for a compact wide-angle lens for my X-E2, something in the 12-15mm range (<24mm equiv) range. It should be sharp - in the center at least, nor soooo concerned with the corners. I came to appreciate the size of the XF 27mm, so the 14mm, despite surely being a great lens, it to large/heavy (and costly). I have a Novoflex M adapter.
The Voigtlaender 15mm is probably the choice?

Probably. I can't think of anything else. BTW, the Fuji 14mm is not too large at all. I use it without the hood to keep its profile small. It's a great lens, but wider then what you're asking.

Come on Keith, it's big enough to make some Fuji cameras tilt forward too far when its on a neck strap... 😀

Fuji has a 16 in the roadmap, which could be bigger than the 14 since it is going to be a fast lens in the f1.2 to 2 range. It maybe released this year along w/ the 90..

Fuji currently does not have anything like the 27 outside of the 18f2..

To the op.. Rent the Zeiss toit 12f2.8 or the Fuji 14f2.8....or try them out at your local camera store. They maybe big, but only u can tell if u will be ok w/ them.. I have used the 14 on my xe1 and the 12 on my Sony a6000.. I don't have issues w/ either one myself. IMHO they are better than the vc 15.

The CV15 will be updated this year. The new design is bigger, though.

The CV12 is also pretty good, IMO better than the 15 with digital cameras. I regularly used mine back when I had the X-E1 and NEX-7, but sold it when I went FF.

the XF 14mm is not overly heavy but yeah sticks fairly out on an X camera.
i saw some X-Pro1 + CV 15mm and they looked great in B&W

another option could be the Rokinon 14mm for under $300

I use the old CV 4.5/15 LTM with the XPro-1 and I like it. As it is not auto focus and rather slow, I find myself using the Fuji 2/18 more often, which I find a quite capable lens. Both the Voigtländer and the Fuji are very compact and don't cost a fortune.

F4.5 won't be a problem if you're taking a cv15 up into the bright snowfields, Peter.

But when you're not at the bright altitudes, you can adjust ISO up to 3200 and for some subjects 6400 to gain a few stops. I loved the 15 on my GXR, and my copy was a beater.

It's not tremendously compact, but I love love love my Rokinon/Samyang 12mm f/2 for my Fuji X.

The Heliar 15 is a joy to walk around with on the X-E2. Its so light and just feels right in the hand. I wouldn't worry about the F4.5. You can shoot at ISO 6400 without much bother.

hm..does that mean that there are two LTM versions? I thought there was only one in LTM, one in M and the third recently announced one.

I have the 4.5/15 in LTM, the 4/21 in M and the 4/25 in LTM again. From what I know the LTM versions are a bit more compact, and I like that, but I must say that I prefer the handling, both focus and aperture ring, of my M lens.

I use a CV 15mm F4.5 LTM on my X-E1 and I highly recommend it.
