Comparable FSU backup to a Canon RF?

Just to summarize, I used to have a Canon P, then I got a Fed-2A as a backup to it, then I sold the Canon P, still have the Fed-2 then several months later I got a Canon P again, and now I have a Industar-10 50/3.5 (only for the fed, threads too broad to go on the canon), Industar-61LD 55/2.8, Jupiter-12 35/2.8, and Jupiter-11 135/4.

The question of course is, having only experience with a Fed-2A (and 2C but I sold the 2C), as a FSU rangefinder, what other FSU rangefinders such as Zorkis and such would act as a 'comparable' backup to the Canon P. That is to say what one behaves similar in viewfinder size, frame lines (or coverage), advance, and size. Don't get me wrong, I like the Fed-2A its a solid camera for me, and it was CLA'd by a rather good tech, just when you have a baranack style leica copy, and a more modernized body, and you swap back and forth between those (either cuz of lens, film, or just cuz you forgot one of them), the "feel" so to speak isn't quite the same, or like if I put a J-12 or J-11 onto the fed I'll have to guess the coverage so to speak in the ~50mm window of the Fed-2.

I'm not really familiar with the Canons, but I'd think a Fed-3 or Zorki-4 or 4k would be closest to what you're looking for. None of them have framelines, so you're going to be restricted to the 50ish viewfinder regardless of what FSU body you pick. Generally speaking, Fed finders are darker and contrastier, while Zorki viewfinders are brighter but with less constrast.

A Zorki 4K would be comparable in functionality. Or,get an M3 to back up your Canon P. [food for thought]

which one of those suggestions would have a PC sync good for X-sync, and an accessory shoe that'll take most auxilary finders (kinda like for example some of the FSU cameras I noticed will only take the russian brands of viewfinders)

You mean get a M3 and make my P the backup 😛, honestly though, if I went that route I'd want to find a beater M6 to use.

Can't help you there. I only use a flash with my Bessa-R, and the only viewfinder I have is the FSU turret. Hopefully somebody else will know.

I'd agree a 4K is the nearest on functionality. Large, bright finder, flash sync and a full-range shutter. Downside is that they almost all have silk-screened shutter speeds that tend to wear off. If you don't need the slower speeds I'd suggest a Zorki 6. Smaller-than-life VF but it has a lever-wind, a hinged back and a wide-base RF that's quite accurate.

I've always thought a zorki 6 could be a good user FSU.
