Hello,

is the black pain on the Nikon SP the same as the black paint on the Leica MP?

And if not, where is the difference?

Thank you for your answers.

Greetings

Fred,

WHICH vintage MP and SP ?

The 50's MP is a whole different animal from the current production MP.

of current production MP's and the 2005 SP's,
the 2005 SP's black paint is a hell of a lot better done to my eyes.

I briefly owned a black 2005 SP and have played with the black MP. To me there is no contest, the SP wins hands down. The MP has a much more glossy finish thus showing the slightest flaws in application in terms of evenness. Appears more likely to wear, but maybe that's the idea to develop a pateena. The SP is more semi-gloss in application. It appears heavier and more robust in application and free of showing any flaws. Very similar to a black F2 in application.

Thanks a lot for your answers.

I never handled a Nikon SP in black paint. But the first impression of the "Nikon black paint" was when i saw a Nikon S3 (Modell 2000). In comparison my thought was, that the MP paint looks a bit deeper.
