Completely Frivolous But Hopefully Amusing Topic

When looking through camera ads in the early 1960's, wondering what to buy, I noticed a "Rectaflex." That didn't sound good to me. I bought a Leica M2 with 35mm Summaron.

lens names:
sandmar (just because glass is mostly silica...)
tri-lausar (triply lousy?)
pigeonar (which goes with the pigeonflex, of course)

and on the topic of Toyotas, I read that the MR-2 was sold in France as the MR because... well, try saying "MR 2" in French.

I have to respond to Phil Forrest's story about dagor-ing on his automobile grille with this dagor story that made my teen-age son, who was fond of working on cars when he was a young man, laugh non-stop. It was a story about a guy who dagor-red on his hot manifold, pulled his head away to dagor on the cement floor which made him dagor again on the hot manifold, which ............. but you can imagine the rest.

If non-camera names count I will tell you my favorite. In the 1960s a Japanese manufacturer came out with a portable barbecue called Hibachi. It was such a success here in the states that a short while later they introduced a smaller version. Yup, Son of Hibachi.
