Comrades! Quick question about a Fed 5B.

Another thing I'm noticing when using the industar is that at a distance, focus is fine but when working at close distance, say 1-1.5m, my plane of focus is behind what I know I focused on. Thats a lens issue right? Have to calibrate it I guess. I'll try the lens on another camera first before I attempt to fix it.

Could be lens, could be the camera. Close focus on the Fed is adjusted using the little wedge on the focusing arm. The tolerances of a Fed are pretty loose as well, so it may not be capable of really accurate close-in focusing.

Hiyawaan,
Nothing so complicated as opening the camera; just an outline on the window--I'm at work as I'm posting this, give me an hour or so and I'll show you what I mean. It is not very precise, just a reminder of where the edge of the VF is and where the edge of the frame might be. ;)

EDIT: as to the close focus issue you're having, I don't know. I tend to use my fed at middle to far distances; if I know I'll be shooting close, the FED isn't my camera of choice. If I see something while I have the FED with me and need/want to get in close, I will shoot it and so far, not any major trouble with mine.

OK, not quite like this:

I looked at my FED and realized the red line was fading a bit. So before taking this pic, I decided to redraw the line. This was with a regular sharpie. As you can see it is too thick of a line. I had used a much finer marker before. NOT the marker I used tonight. Now I get the fun of cleaning this off. :bang:
But this does show what and where I meant earlier.
Hey, if I can't be an inspiration, I'll be an example.:D
