There have been a few threads regarding shooting concerts, both big and small with various cameras, but after searching I haven't found any mention of how good/bad the Contax Gs are for this type of photography.

I go to a local club, only a small venue, so I can get close to the stage. I usually take along my Pentax Espio Mini loaded with Fuji 800 to shoot rock bands and have gotten some good shots but it means getting near to the performers and I always feel I may be intruding into other peoples view and spoiling their enjoyment.

The Espio is a good low light shooter and exposes well under those conditions. However I would like to get in a little closer for some tight shots and wondered if anyone here has used their G for shooting bands.

The last copule of weeks a guy has been shooting with an SLR and a massive flash (Pentax gear, I think) and this lights up the whole room! Don't think he knows about fast film or uprating.

I have a G1 plus 28, 45 and 90mm lenses but have never tried them in this kind of situation. Anybody know how the G's metering and focusing will handle the conditions?

Any info anyone?

Paul
