I made this photograph yesterday afternoon. I discovered this concrete bench along Dalman Road in a rural area of Allen County several years ago, but had not had the opportunity to photograph it until now. It looks like an especially uncomfortable church pew! There was heavy snow blowing across the scene when I made this photograph, which is more visible in prints.

Shoot.
I find the colour quite boring — maybe it'd look better without?

I quite like the colour because it is real ... typical of Indiana/Midwest at this time of year.

Thanks Trius. Here's a black and white photo of it. I like it, but I still like the color one a little more.

North Country colors in Winter
Trius is right - the colors that remain in a North Country winter are precious, and the natural ones are subtle. In the Kingdom of the Blind, the One-eyed Man is King. In a land of shades of brown and shades of grey, any hint of color is a standout. I know people who plant stuff purely for the color it give in Winter - twig bark, maybe some clingy dead leaves.

The color photo is OK. In fact, it has a charm of its own. But now having seen it, I think I prefer the b/w. But that is partly due to the lack of distraction of the color in the b/w.

The black & white image has a desolateness to it that I don't feel in the color version.
