I currently have a dedicated computer running Win XP Pro to use with my Coolscan V ED. I recently aquired a like new Coolscan 4000ED and wish to connect it to the same computer. I don't want to get into the Vuescan/Nikon scan debate. I would just like to hook up the 4000 ED. Will I have to reinstall Nikon scan? Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

No. Just plug it in.

Just plugging the 4000ED in works when I unplugged the Coolscan V first. The software will not allow the two scanners to be connected at the same time. DOH!

You could possibly run them simultaneously with the software running on a VM. Also if you only have two Firewire 400 ports on your motherboard, you could get a Firewire port plugged into a PCI or PCIE slot. Your software and or computer may be getting hung up on two scanners running through the same bus. Switching one to PCI might remove any existing arguments.
Just a few options you could try.
