Too late - I have it - there will be no regrets regarding the color.
I was always leaning toward the grey from the aesthetic point of view, but I was a little concerned about the durability, but I think it will be fine.

Looks really nice!
The one thing that I will miss- the simple LCD battery status and shots-remaining on the SD card on the top deck. Very handy, and lets me know f the M8 needs a wake-up nudge.

It is convenient Brian - but I am already appreciating the "Info" screen. It gives you a great deal of info very quickly. The usability changes are subtle, but very logical and some are simply leagues ahead of the M8 (ISO button, EV Comp, Manual Lens selection, etc.)
I am very pleased thus far. If they could only make it produce B&W images like the M3!
Sounds like you may be getting one? Ordering today from Europe the tag would read about $5600 US - shipped. Not bad when I think of my M8 price 3 years ago.
I'm "scheduling" one at my pace. 1 Year with the M8, the CD matures, decisions get made. Jan 2011.

Having never had the 8 I thought having a battery indicator would have been nice but I have totally gotten used to the INFO button and don't give it a second thought now.
I having a great time with mine, so much easier to carry around vs. my Canon stuff but they both have their place. I still love my 5D, even more than my 5DII but the M9, that is my real baby. I am also happy with the B&W rendering.

My "scheduling" involves selling a bunch of stuff to pay for this. But what the heck - I had stuff I haven't used in years...

That is a nice shot.
B&W can look really good - but I always prefer film B&W to digital. ( Mostly a personal thing!)

well, $5600 is a lot better than spending 9k$ on ebay buying the same camera....

I love the smell of fixer having started in a lab back in 1972. Nothing like doing film but for me those days are gone. If film was easily available and a dark room was and chemicals and . . . I always enjoyed shooting H&W film. It was a high contrast copy film you developed in a low contrast developer with an ASA of 32. No grain and with a Leica you could make fantastic prints. They had two type of H&W but I normally shot the lower ASA one as I also used Kodachrome II. Ahh. a Leica and good film . . . :^)
