Hello,

I have the chance to buy a Contaprox II kit, complete with the CZJ Tessar 3,5. In other words, a post-WWII set.

I use a 1937-made Contax II (besides its Kiev heirs...).

My question is: can the Contaprox II be used in connection to prewar Contaxes?

Thank you for any help,

Elmar Lang

Hello Elmer,

Yes, both the Contaprox I and the Contaprox II work on all Zeiss Ikon Contaxes, their Kiev heirs with the possible exception of the Kiev 5 as well as with adapters on micro-four-thirds and Sony NEX cameras. So even if the world goes all digital you can still use your Contaprox. By the way the Contaprox II does not have a built in lens, and it is listed as only accepting rigid post war lenses. Early Contaprox I's came with built in CZJ 50/3.5 Tessars with serial numbers above 3000000.
