Hi all
I'm seeking advice on how to remove the top cover of a Zeiss Ikon Contarex in order to investigate a frustrating operating problem. The shutter is hesitant or hangs in cold weather requiring a shake of the camera in order to persuade it to complete a cycle.
I have serviced and re-tensioned the aperture actuator in the bayonet mount and cleaned (as best I can) the aperture setting train. The problem is diminished but in cold weather it returns.
I am confident that I can strip and re-assemble to a degree and so thought that if i can get the top cover off I can look deeper into a solution and clean and lubricate the various mechanisms. I have restored Contax ll, lla and lla so am optimistic although I am aware that this camera is a far more complex unit.
Any help, links, docs, schematics gratefully received.
best to all

One of the Tomosy books actually has an article about working on the Cyclops model. Perhaps surprisingly his opinion is that it is a camera that was designed with the repair technician in mind. It made me review my opinions about owning one (although a Special, the one I'd really like, is beyond my means these days). I suggest taking a look at that in the first instance. Not sure what's out there on the web about fixing them but please share some details and pics of your repair job—it's a very interesting design.
Cheers
Brett
