contax 167mt lithium battery

Are you sure it has one? the only batteries I've changed in my 167Mt are the four AAA cells under the baseplate.

The manual says it does. It has all the symptoms of a dying backup lithium battery as the manual discribed (LCD screen blinking rapidly when camera is turned on, then it switches off). It does that even with new AAA batteries. This camera has not been in use for quite some time. So, is it that the backup battery is dying, or is it that it ran out of charge for not being in use for a long time and that it will get recharged after I start using it because it takes its power from the AAA batteries?

Hm, I don't have a manual for mine and turning it around and around I can't find a place where another battery may be hidden.

But I think I've read something about a condenser in the camera which is used as a powersource while changing batteries to keep the film counter and exposure settings. Somehow my 167 holds this information over quite some time, 4 weeks at least.
