I happened upon a m4/3 adapter for Contax G lenses on eBay and it will be on it's way tomorrow. It will work with the 35, 50 and 90mm lenses only right now. Infinity focus is maintained.

Should be interesting. The adapter actually has a little focusing wheel on it which should work well or, conversely, feel really crappy.

I'll post when I get the item with impressions.

I've always wanted to try the G1 45mm and 90mm lenses, but not camera to do it. I bought both len ses as great prices at KEH and one of the adapters. After finally figuring out how to mount it, I found that ithe adapter and the lenses work quite well on the Panasonic G1. But I like manual focusing. The small wheel on the adapter to turn the focusing screw seem to be well made. I discovered the hard way that you need to make sure the lens is all the way in--focused on infinity--before mounting the lens to the adapter. Images are great; lenses are very light weight and the size is perfect for the Pan G1. I now have a lightweight 180mm telephoto lens for the G1, and a 90mm portrait lens.

Larry- any images to post? I think there's a few of us who will be interested in the combination (even if I traded all my G gear to another RFF member...).
And Kent, looking forward to your thoughts on the setup when you get it.

There's two. A nice comparison of the 90mm at close and distant focus. Bokeh looks great on the near focus; yellow leaves in the background are "compressed," look close when they're actually some 30 yards behind the railing. The night shot was quite appealing, a great advantage of having f2.0 on the 45mm lens. Focusing is a pain at first, but as usual you get used to it after a while. Key is not using too much vertical (90 degrees to camera) force. Just roll it with a light touch. I have no idea how to upload photos here, but I'll try.

Well, I could not find any instructions on how to upload photos with a reply. So, I added my test photos with the G1 to my web site under a portfolio called Zeiss lens test. Just click on that portfolio and start the slide show or go thru one by one. There's two with crops of the originals so you can see the detail. Needless to say, I was quite happy with the results. Seems like the Contax G1 Zeiss lenses are a good match with the Panasonic G1 in terms of size and weight and the way the sensor handles the high resolution and color. Here's the web site:
http://www.zenfolio.com/DLKincaid Let me know if you have any problems. I'm looking forward to doing more than tests, although some of the tests turned into "real" photos.
