... not head on but as a compliment to each other.
I'm quite enamored with the Konica Hexar AF and it's lovely f2/35mm.

Is anyone using a Contax G1/G2 with a 2/45 and 2.8/90 as a companion to the Hexar AF?
Could you please comment on AF accuracy and speed of The Contax G series compared to the Hexar?

I used to own a G1 and used it almost exclusively with the 45 and 90 (90/10).
It's been so long I don't recall liking it nearly as much as the Hexar although it delivered nice results.
Admittedly AF has become more important to me. My eyes have suffered in the last decade.
I used to hate AF and probably judged the Contax harshly in that light.

Looking for a solution at 50ish and a bit of 90mm to compliment the 35mm Hexar.

Thank you for your comments.

Andy, I've never been disappointed with the best shots on any given roll with a G1 + the 45 or the 90. The G1 really is about AF; the manual control is on a little top wheel, and were it my only film camera, I'd master it--but if not, what's the point?

Of the 4 images below, 1/2 are the 45 with slide film + FP4, and 3/4 are the 90 with either Delta 400 or HP5, & some Arista 100.

However, if you're looking for an AF companion for your Hexar, what about a Fuji 645A or 645ZI? The lens noise will be like the Contax, well a bit shriekier, but the negative is ooh la la...

Thank you guys.
Robert maybe I will check out a 645. I'm using a GF 670 presently as well for slower work.
I love the Fuji Medium formats. Never thought to try the AF 645's. 🙂
