I have a problem with battery drain. When I turn the camera off the frame counter stays on, but the rest of the camera is off. When I remove the battery the camera fully turns off. Same thing in reverse, with the camera turned off inserting the battery activates the camera but it is still “off”.

Does anyone know what causes this and can it be fixed?

Thanks in advance,
Roger

This is normal, it can’t be fixed as it isn’t broken. Framecounter LCD display draws such miniscule power, if your camera has a battery drain problem this isn’t the culprit, it’s something else.

Shouldn’t the framecounter LCD go off when I switch the camera off? It seems to me that the camera doesn’t fully turn off with the switch, which is strange.

I understand what you are saying, but I do find it unusual that the camera is still on. If I remove the battery the camera then fully shuts down. Is this normal too? I just need to understand how the camera is supposed to function when turned off so that I can try and solve the battery drain. Thank you for your replies.

If you turn the camera off, it won’t take pictures, because it is not ON. Ignore the LCD, it’s irrelevant.

Removing the battery removes power entirely so it’s not going to take photos in that scenario either. This would also be ‘normal’ as the camera is electro-mechanical and battery dependent, not purely mechanical.

Good luck diagnosing the problem!
