Contax G2 DX not working

So I picked up a Contax G2 from B&H and it looks like the DX reader is not working. I've loaded two different films...TMAX and Delta 400 and DX doesn't pop up, it just says AF, nor does the exposure meter in the viewfinder. I've googled the issue and can't find anyone experiencing a similar issue. Any ideas?

Fresh batteries? Clean the DX contacts with a soft cloth. You can also set the film speed manually.

It is probably set on a manual ISO. You have to hold the ISO button and rotate the wheel until it says 100 DX. It will then read the ISO automatically.

Setting the custom functions on g2 is tricky without manual. Get yourself a manual on ebay, or better yet; talk to me and I'll part with one at very reasonable price.
