So, I haven't used my G2 in a while and decided to use it to shoot pix at our grandtwins birthday party tomorrow. Checked today to make sure the batteries were healthy and upon looking through the viewfinder was shocked to see everything tilted/rotated about 15 degrees to the left. At first I assumed I was framing incorrectly but it soon became clear that something odd it going on in the VF.

Have you had this happen? Any suggestions?

Need I say I'll be using another camera tomorrow?

TIA!/ScottGee1

hi there,

I have the exact same problem with my contax. did you manage to find the solution? was it human error or indeed was it a tilted viewfinder?

Best,
Ciro

Same problem here.

It is something that can occur, there is some literature on the web. My crafty repairman here in Italy has decided not to do it as adjustment involves use of certain glues and it is not just mechanical.

Replacement with another RF block taken from another dead G2 did not look that easy either or cheap. Contax UK could repair it for GBP 165 plus my shipping cost to UK and they were sending it to Japan as they only do a full CLA at a flat rate (and I cannot remember exactly until what year Kyocera supports this). This was about a year ago. For now I have kept it as is - as I nearly can buy a new body for that price or at least this is what I paid for mine.

The viewfinder is very small anyway, but truth is that I am using more my G1 with 45/35/90mm now and leaving the biogon 21/28 on the G2 while before it was the other way around. And I swap bodies when I need more accurate focusing.

Keen to see if you find a solution.
