Hi,
My experience of Oleg is that he can be trusted and is very, very reasonably priced.
My experience of others is that Contax and Kiev parts are interchangeable for the 1930's Contax II's.
And I know someone (another expert in the UK who we'd all recognise) who dismantled a Jupiter and Sonnar to compare and measured everything and was happy to confirm they were the same. And then he said "Hardly surprising... "
Contax and Kiev aren't the only makes to be assembled in two different countries, I can think of several these days. Think of all those cameras that are no longer marked "Made in Japan" and you'll get the idea.
Regards, David

... Do we want to know how much he paid for it?
No, we don't.
Latest: I'm going to help him get it overhauled.

... replaces the whole shutter assembly with Kiev parts...
Just FWIW... I've been in touch with Henry Scherer. Unsolicited, he warned me about this practice.

Sadly it has been stored in its everready leather case, which means lots of haze, mould and corrosion for everything.
Yes, that was the first thing I noticed.
Warning to all: Don't leave fine cameras in the leather cases.
