I have 3 lenses for my G1 (28, 45, 90) All 3 have gotten a green substance on the lens mount area. Not on the glass, just the mounting area. It almost seems like some sort of lubricant. Not sticky, but kind of gummy. (like a thick grease) All were bought new and one of them had it then. It rubs off on the camera lens mount area but will wipe off with a soft cloth. Has anyone experienced this same thing? Is it something to be concerned with?

Happens to almost everyone. Don't worry about it. I believe it's a combination of the lens lubricant + localized oxidation (rust).

Would like to have the answer to this as well as I have the same thing on my lens too.
I just wipe it off with a cloth/q-tip. It seems to be OK.

Saw it on my old G2, don't see it on the new one, yet.
