Contax RTS II - battery door

Hi RFF'ers 🙂

I stumbled across this Contax RTS II (& Distagon 28mm F2.8) and I'm quite taken by it 😱

The seller, local to me, allowed me to take her home for a spin & clean her up. While I was at it, I replaced the film door seals.

Also part of the kit was a 70-210mm F3.5 Vario-Sonnar (with minor fungus), plus winder and power pack.

The power pack has corroded terminals so I've put that to one side. Besides, adding the weight of 12 AA batteries plus winder is not my idea of fun! Unfortunately, the battery door is particular to the power pack, and is incompatible with a regular 4LR44 battery.

Does anyone know where I can get the regular battery door? Or is there a battery door from some other brand that will fit?

I really don't know. However, I would think the original RTS might have the same battery door, and there should be some parts RTS cameras around.

RFF does have a small contingent of Contax users, some of whom are quite knowledgeable. One of them should be able to come up and give you good advice.

Also, check your PMs.

I don't know about other brands but any Yashica/Contax that takes the same battery should work.

Yashica fr-1 uses the same battery as the rts and shared many accesories. I think they use the same battery cap
