Hi

I recently bought a Contax T2 after reading through quite few reviews about it's performance, quality of lens etc. It does feel quite nice in hands too. For testing it out, I am using Agfa Vista 200 ASA film because they are really cheap. But on developing the exposed rolls I am finding most of the photos are out of focus . Now it can also happen due to poor scanning I am assuming (I do not currently own a great scanner - Canoscan 8400F with Vuescan) but I was expecting I would get some really sharp ones given I have read so much about the lens that comes with Contax T2.

I take a lot photograph of my daughter who is on the move most of the time and also a lot of streets but mostly very fast. Is T2 generally suffer from focus problems if the subject is not really still? Appreciate your response on this because I am kinda feeling trying to figure out what's going wrong.

well, it is a very nice camera but still a P&S, not an advanced SLR with fast focusing. however, before we blame the camera, let's make sure we focus properly - your object must be in the very center, then you half press the shutter button, see the green light and can recompose (if you don't want your object to be in the center). but make sure you don't lose the focus while recomposing (green light must be on all the time). I get my pictures really sharp, but I don't shoot fast moving objects -it's not the camera to shoot the sport.
by the way - once I had a faulty T2 where focus was stuck on infinity...I hope yours isn't faulty, just a matter of getting used to shoot with it.

make sure the focus dial does not overshoot the AF marker, which it sometimes does for me, resulting in out of focus foregrounds.

Thank you for the replies. Yeah, I don't want to blame the camera first but at times it may not suit your style of taking photographs. That's why I wanted to discuss here and understand a bit. I think I will buy one roll just for testing and try out the focusing part by putting things in dead center. I am hoping I have not got a faulty camera here :(.
