Maybe others have asked in the past, but I was wondering if ya'll ever run contests on this site. Like a contest for street photography, or still life, or landscapes, or portraits, etc. Not for any prize or anything, but just recognition. In one big gallery where members can judge the photos. Do we do this? Would we?

No, we don't do this, and I wouldn't like it either. It could put a severe strain on relations among the members. We're not a competition board. 🙂

I'd have to agree. Of course if there was a prize, say lot's of money involved, I could easily be persuaded to compete 😉

i'm dead set against anything but competing with myself.

too easy to hurt feelings.

i am all about inclusion not exclusion and i fear 'winning' excludes others.

don't get me wrong, i'm not a new age sensitive guy that abhors competition, i just don't want it here.

if you want a critique on a specific pic feel free to ask us for it.

I very much prefer exhibits to contests, and we already have a very good exhibit here on line, in the form of the gallery.

You can literally spend hours there and not get bored. 🙂

I think a challenge is better than a contest. When someone nails the subject of the challenge, then that person is a winner. So in a challenge there are many winners. In fact everyone can be a winner.
