Any GRD1 (or former) GRD1 users still around? I realise the later GRD's have contrast/sharpness settings in B&W and more custom settings available then the original GRD. There are 2 custom settings available on the GRD1 in which contrast and sharpness can be changed, however, they only seem to operate in colour...I've read the entire manual and searched all over the net, without finding out how to - yet some people seem to have been able to set high contrast in-camera. I can only change the EV in black and white so far. Greatful for any new information!
Fantastic photos in the forums and galleries here.
Thanks in advance!

The contrast can be set for B&W but some people do use the text mode (under "scene" on the dial) for very extreme contrast photos.

Just pulled my GRD1 off the motorcycle, there are contrast settings:
Go to menu item 1, (Shooting Settings) SHTG STGS > IMG Set > B&W > Contrast and Sharpen
Go to menu item 1, (Shooting Settings) SHTG STGS > IMG Set > B&W > Contrast and Sharpen

...thanks for replying! I found those settings, if on my GRD1 I follow those steps, under B&W there are setting 1 and setting 2 in which I can change sharpness and contrast. But that makes me apparently move out of B&W. If I take 2 pictures before and after, the settings remain the same in B&W. (and behind the B&W setting is nothing...)
Thanks

Thanks! Will try the text-contrast!The contrast can be set for B&W but some people do use the text mode (under "scene" on the dial) for very extreme contrast photos.

I wonder if you might not have the latest firmware?
Ricoh was pretty good about updating older cameras.
